How are your frames shipped?

We ship our frames with a specially-designed packaging system that is superior to standard cardboard corners. The frame is wrapped in foam padding and bound to a cardboard suspension pad that allows two inches of space to cushion the frame within its shipping box.

To make sure your order arrives as beautiful as the day it left our workshop, a tremendous amount of care and effort goes into custom packaging and shipping. Our shipping rates include the cost of the parcel, custom packaging materials, and extensive labor. Shipping cost is based on the selected shipping service, the number of products in the order, and the dimensions of the products in the order.

What Carrier Will Ship My Order?

Typically, we ship UPS Ground for the US 48 contiguous states. We do offer upgraded shipping services if you 
    require faster shipping. Oversized packages will ship through a freight service and are not available for 
    expedited shipping.

How can I track my order?

You will receive an email once your order has shipped with a tracking number through UPS, FedEx or USPS. Orders to Hawaii and Alaska will receive tracking numbers through the U.S Postal Service.

What Are Freight Shipments?

We use freight shipping when a package is too large to be accepted by UPS. One of the main advantages of this method is that the shipping company will call you to setup a delivery time to ensure you're home and able to receive the package.

What Do I Need to Know About My Freight Shipment?

If some or all of your order qualifies as a freight shipment, then it will be delivered by a freight carrier. Your order will require a scheduled delivery and the freight carrier will call you to set up this appointment 3-5 business days after your order has moved to shipped status.

Since an appointment is required for delivery, please make sure that the shipping address and contact telephone number you entered are correct. If the carrier is unable to reach you to arrange delivery, they may have to place the item on hold and storage costs may begin to accrue.

If you are aware of any hindrance for a semi-truck/tractor trailer to make the delivery to your address, please choose a different shipping address where possible.

What is a rabbet?

We know you're thinking of a fluffy, long-eared animal that hops its way around when you see the word "rabbet," 
    but one of those little cuties would be spelled "rabbit." When it comes to framing, a rabbet is the recess on the 
    back inside edge of the frame into which your artwork fits. "Rabbet size" refers to the depth of this recess, and 
    for most framing projects, any rabbet size is fine.

            These frames have open rabbets, so they will work for almost any framing project.

Metal Frames

Most of our metal frames have enclosed rabbets. When you're framing a very thick piece - like a stretched canvas - in a metal frame,
                be sure to choose one with a rabbet that will accommodate the thickness of the piece.

We seek the finest quality materials and are proud that the vast majority of our frames are both sourced & made 
    in the USA. 100% of our finishing - including matting, glazing & backing - is from USA sources and all finished 
    products are assembled in the USA. We also use upcycled materials from USA sources wherever possible (ex: reclaimed 
    fence board and barn wood found right here in the USA).

How will my frame arrive? Do I have to assemble it?

Most of our custom frames arrive fully assembled and include easy-to-use hanging hardware.
NOTE: Metal frames without a custom print arrive unassembled. An easy-to-use assembly kit is included, as well as hanging hardware. All you need is a screwdriver.

All frames ship with free hanging hardware which includes D-rings and hanging wire. For larger frames we suggest 
    hanging the frame directly from the included D-rings for stability.

Do you use an industry standard allowance for your frames?

To help your art, acrylic front and backing all fit securely inside the frame without being TOO tight, we
    typically allow for an extra 1/8th of an inch allowance. So, your frame will be just slightly larger than the
    image size you enter to hold everything properly.

How do I measure my artwork for framing?

Measure the exact width (w) and height (h) of the outside dimensions of the image or artwork in inches. If you are planning to frame a canvas, measure from outside wrapped corner

Do the back of your frames come finished?

While we take great care to make sure each frame will look stunning on your wall, we do not finish the back of 
    our frames. As such, you may occasionally see some rough, unfinished marks on the back of our handcrafted frames

    We offer four types of acrylic fronts with foamcore backing to fit your individual needs.

Consists of a 3/16" thick foamcore backing board and "glass-like" 1/16" thick clear acrylic. This 
            bestseller is a classic finishing choice - perfect for artwork and photography of all kinds. Foamcore is 
            a great choice because it has a higher level of protection for framed items than corrugated backing. Its 
            white finish preserves the integrity of translucent artwork. It doubles as a dust cover thanks to its 
            neat, clean appearance, and it works well for dry mounting objects to the backing.

Classic Non-Glare (Non-Glare Acrylic and Foamcore Backing)

Includes all the same benefits as the Clear Acrylic option, but with one major distinction: the 1/16" thick non-glare acrylic cuts down the glare on items in direct light or near windows. Note: This finishing option should not be used with shadow boxes or presentations with more than one mat due to increased distortion.

Premium Heavy-Duty (Heavy-Duty Clear Acrylic and Foamcore Backing)

How large should I make my own digital files?

If you know how to create your own digital files, make sure they are 300 DPI/PPI (dots per inch/pixels per inch) 
    at actual output (print) size. Also, make sure you use RGB (red/green/blue) because our printers and RIP 
    software are profiled to print only RGB files. We prefer .tiff format with no compression, but .jpeg format is 
    also acceptable. Note: For those of you using Photoshop or a similar program, remember to merge all visible 
    layers, including text layers.

How large of an image can you print?

The max print size depends on which paper substrate you choose to print on. However, most of our state-of-the-art 
    printers will print as large as 50 x 80+ inches. (Length is not an issue because our papers come on long 
    continuous rolls.) We can print images with a minimum of 1-inch border as wide as 50 inches. We can stretch 
    canvases up to 50 x 50 inches. However, because of shipping costs, the largest presentation size (including any 
    frame) that you can order online is 48" x 83".

Can I stretch my canvas prints when they arrive?

Stretching a giclee printed canvas is a more delicate process than stretching a blank canvas. If you stretch too tight, the image may look as though it is cracked. If your print is damaged as you are stretching the canvas, we cannot be held responsible. 
If you have a rolled canvas, it is important that you have this stretched over wooden stretcher bars before inserting into a frame. We would suggest taking this type of art to a framing shop to have professionally stretched before you purchase a frame.

Your picture is printed on specialized gloss paper and then it's sealed behind the acrylic with a delicate

For canvas floating frames, we recommend selecting frames with a rabbet depth that is close to the depth of your canvas. If you choose a floating frame that does not share the same depth as your canvas, then your canvas art will stand out beyond the face of your canvas floating frame. Canvas also works well with other frames that are at least 2½ inches wide or have a deep rabbet to hold your canvas in place.

What is the difference between 3/4" stretched canvas and gallery wraps?

A 3/4" stretched canvas is a classic presentation that's tautly stretched over an all-wood 1/3" stretcher
    bar and stapled in place for a finished depth of 3/4". Stapling is always done on the back for the more
    professional look that sets us apart from our competitors. This classic size is the most frame-friendly depth,
    finished with a standard, white border wrap and works well with hundreds of frame choices. A gallery wrap uses a
    thicker, all wood stretcher bar for a final depth of either 1", 11/2" or 2". It's most commonly used when
    the canvas is hung unframed as a stand-alone work of art or in a canvas floating frame with exposed edges.
